Stella L. (Spencer) Meyers

Stella L. Meyers, 91, of Cherrytown, PA; passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 22, 1931, in Barnettstown, PA; a daughter of the late Robert and Carrie (Postlewaite) Spencer.

On February, 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to George W. Meyers; he preceded her in death on August 18, 2012.

She is survived by sons George S. Meyers, married to Annie (Hedge), Dudley, PA; and Donald W. Meyers, married to Laura (Brown), Six Mile Run, PA; grandchildren Valerie married to Andy Morningstar; Courtney married to Billy Watkin; Stephanie Meyers and Jared Wise; Charity Meyers; Ronnie Jenkins and Heidi O’Neal; Cody Rourke and Brittney Pembrooke; Whitney married to Charles Martin; June Hill; Jamie married to Derik Anderson; Jessica married to Chris Shope; Jeanna Sabines; Jeffrey Sabines; Jacklyn married to Miro Stojanovic; and Morgan Norris; numerous great grandchildren; a brother Bobby Spencer married to Anna, Wood, PA; and sister-in-law Esther Meyers, MD.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by siblings Robert Spencer, James Spencer, Larry Spencer and Joan Kline.

Stella was a member of the Russellville Methodist Church and a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1950, where she graduated valedictorian of her class. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Thomas until she started her family. She enjoyed reading and scrapbooking, looking into the family’s genealogy and spending time with her family and discussing current events with Suzie and Beverly. She volunteered as a Cub Scout leader as well as Saxton Community Library for many years.

Stella loved the Lord and sure enjoyed being a mother.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA, and on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ with Pastor C.R. Martin officiating.

Burial will be held at Russellville Methodist Cemetery.
