Shirley J. (Diehl) Spade

Shirley J. Spade, 85, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, PA.  She was born on January 24, 1935 in Friends Cove, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen (James) Diehl.

She is survived by her three children Vicki Lee married to David Lohr, of Everett, Kenneth A. Spade and significant other Iris, of Greencastle, and CheChee A. married to Joel Critchfield, of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, sister Susie married to Larry Beach, of Hopewell.

She was preceded in death by her husband William H. Spade of 64 years of marriage, and siblings James Diehl, John Diehl, Larry Diehl, Ronald Diehl and Lucy Jane Miller.

She attended the Everett Church of God and was a member of the Friends Cove Sportsman Club.  She was a homemaker, and enjoyed volunteering.  She was a Bedford phone operator in the 1950’s.

Shirley has chosen to donate her body to assist in medical research and training.  A family graveside service will be held at a later date where her remains will be laid to rest beside her husband at Bedford County Memorial Park.
