Richard "Dick" Smith Obituary

Richard “Dick” G. Smith, 88, of Robinsonville Road, Clearville, PA; passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born on September 5, 1931 in the village of Northcraft, Fulton County; a son of the late Walter Ralph and Clara Elizabeth (Roberts) Smith.  On April 27, 1957 he was united in marriage to A. Catherine (Medlin) Smith.

Along with his wife he is survived by son Lloyd K. Smith married to Terry (Foor), Clearville, PA; siblings Norma Jean married to Don Mabry, Calvin Smith and Edna Fisher; grandchildren Elizabeth Yokum married to Paul, Heather Johnson married to Jacob, Matthew Smith married to Katlyn and Sarah Hawkins and significant other Teagan Fleck; nine great grandchildren twins Samantha and Ashley Yokum, Tanner Yokum, Josilyn Johnson, Jenalyn Johnson, Jaxson Smith, Nash “Smash” Smith and twins Rylee and Layla Smith.

He was preceded in death by daughters Janet L. Hawkins and infant daughter Gail I. Smith; siblings Grant Smith, Mary Smith, Pauline Mearkle, Wayne Smith, Betty Rice, Donald Smith, George Smith and infant sister Doris Smith.

Richard was of the Methodist Faith and attended Stevens Chapel UM Church.

He was manager of Allen Stock Farm for sixty years until his retirement.  Over the years he also worked for Feight Brothers and Letterkenny Army Depot as a heavy equipment operator.  Dick served as a Monroe Township Supervisor for eighteen years.

He was a graduate of Warfordsburg High School.  Dick enjoyed hunting, attending auctions, collecting antiques and walking his dog “Dixie”.  He loved his tractors and especially his Ford 8N.  He enjoyed caring for the humming birds and squirrels.

Friends and Family may call on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Hott officiating.

Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
