Richard "Dick" Koontz

Richard “Dick” E. Koontz, age 93, of Everett, PA; went home to be to with The Lord on November 26, 2021.  He was born on July 14, 1928; the son of the late Ellis and Mae (Conlon) Koontz.  On January 29, 1952 he married the former Marilyn J. (Perrin) Koontz.  She preceded him in death on February 23, 2015. 

He is survived by one daughter Sheila (Koontz) and her husband Rodney W. Boyd and one grandson Shawn E. Boyd and wife Krista (Henry); two great grandchildren Lillian Diane Boyd and Troy Alexander Boyd; sister-in-law Betty (Henderson) Koontz.

Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by brothers Harold Koontz married to the late Marie (Bennett) and Allen “Jim” Koontz.

Richard was a member of the First Christian Church of Everett.  He worked for John Batzel Logging for twenty-three years.  He retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission in 1991 after twenty-five years of service as a No. 2 operator at the Everett Maintenance Shed.  He also was caretaker for the Frame Church Cemetery for twenty-five years. Dick was an avid hunter and loved to do things with his grandson, Shawn. He liked to watch the old time western movies.  He enjoyed feeding the birds and seeing all the different kinds and colors of birds.  He was a very loving husband, father, brother and a very special pap. He will be missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday December 3, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Everett, PA with Rev. Robert R. Robertson and Rev. Melissa Beal officiating.

Burial will be held at the Everett Cemetery.
