Richard D. Smith

Richard D. Smith, 81, of Sideling Hill Creek Road, Clearville, PA; passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at his home.  He was born on January 23, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA; a son of the late LeeRoy and Eleanor (Emery) Smith.  On October 28, 1972 in Lavale, Maryland he was united in marriage to the former Diana “Dede” (Beegle) Smith. 

Along with his wife of fifty years he is survived by children Tammy Hart married to Nathaniel, Clearville, PA and Clinton Smith married to Brenda (Berkey), Alum Bank, PA; grandchildren Taylor Martin married to Josh, Bedford, PA and Andrew and Alex Hart; great-grandchildren R. J. Bowser, Kloey Bowser and Nate Bowser; siblings Shirley Clites, Bill Smith married to Joyce and Sharon Vallance and many nieces and nephews. 

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by infant son and brother Robert Smith.

Richard attended Everett Area High School.  After high school he went on to work at Henkles and McCoy where he worked as a working foreman for thirty-three years until his retirement in 2004.  He attended Bethel Christian Church in his younger years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and old westerns and loved spending time with the boy R.J.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. in The Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor John Bennett officiating.

Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
