Randy Barber Obituary

Randy L. Barber, 62, of Everett, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family in the early morning hours on Friday, June 26, 2020, after fighting a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Randy was born in Everett, on July 16, 1957, to the late H. Dean & G. Lucile (Foor) Barber of Everett. He married his high school sweetheart Donna (Hood) Barber on July 29, 1978.
He is survived by son, Adam, married to Julie Chapman, of Philadelphia, and daughter, Kate, of Chesapeake, Va.; a brother, Rodney, married to Karen (England), of Everett; sister, LuAnn Cooper, married to Gary of Everett, and Marylou Baker, married to Mark, of Sharon. Also important to Randy were his close extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, his nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Randy was a 1976 graduate of Everett Area High School, where he participated in numerous activities, one of the most important being marching band where he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Donna.
He was employed by New Enterprise Stone & Lime, Aschom plant, where he held various positions over the years.
Randy loved to spend time in the woodshop, developing his woodworking skills. His tool collection and knowledge were ever-growing. He knew how to fix or build just about anything. He was always willing to put his skills to use on a project for Katie or Adam’s houses, his own house, or helping anyone else in need.
Randy enjoyed traveling, visiting places such as Ireland, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Aruba, and he always looked forward to his annual family vacation to Ocean City, Md.
Family was very important to Randy. Many lasting memories were made around a wheelbarrow fire or family picnic, often involving Randy’s witty poems, funny songs, or famous sayings. His love of ice cream taught us you always have room because it “just melts around the edges.” He is the definition of a fun uncle.
Many will remember Randy by his quick wit, humor, and his characteristically ornery smile. He was always ready with a laugh, joke, or hug. Randy will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, July 1, from 4-8 p.m. at the Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor David Calovi officiating. Burial will be held in Everett Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Randy to the Everett United Methodist Church, 221 E. Main St., Everett, PA 15537 or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
