Marcia Davis Obituary

Marcia L. (Smith) Davis, 98, of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania formerly of Saxton; passed away on June 25, 2020 at Homewood in Martinsburg. She was born on July 30, 1921 in Langdondale, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Chester W. and Mildred (Kline) Smith. On November 27, 1964 she married Charles “Jack” E. Davis in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1999.

She is survived by her daughter Diana R. (Stacy) Grimes married to Timothy S. of Uniontown, PA; granddaughters Staci Grimes, Mindi Piccolomini and husband William,  Ginger J. Jakubowski and husband, Jeremy; seven great grandchildren Adrian Grimes, Corrina, William, Domenico and Marissa Piccolomini, Grace and Miles Jakubowski; sisters Helen Ferry and Janet Gilbert; nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by Diana’s father, Warren H. Stacy, brother William Smith and wife Dorothy; sister Louise and husband Paul Foor; brothers-in-law Richard Ferry, Wayne Bennett, George Thompson and Nevin Gilbert.

Marcia graduated from Broad Top High School with honors in 1938 and studied accounting through a correspondent school. She later graduated from Maison Felix Beauty School in Pittsburgh in 1950 and operated her own beauty shop until 1964, later working for Dr. Gordon for twenty-seven years until retiring in 1984.

She was a member of Trinity U.C.C. Church in Saxton for over 50 years, where she was a member of the choir and the Women’s Mite Society. A member of the Hopewell and Saxton Senior Citizens Center, having served on Area Agency on Aging advisory council for Bedford, Fulton and Huntingdon counties, a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary 8634, a Past Worthy Matron of Saxton Chapter No. 164 Order of Eastern Star for 50 plus years.

Marcia enjoyed making crafts, ceramics, quilts and baby quilts. She planted a garden and flowers which she loved.  

Marcia enjoyed spending time with her family, her granddaughters, great granddaughters and great grandsons. She loved them all dearly. Marcia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family, friends, and she loved her late little dog, “Molly.”

She shared a special bond with Terry Ann May, Vicky Defibaugh, Wynn Clapper and Barbara Manges.

Marcia knew her God and was always very thankful for all the blessings he bestowed on her.  She was very happy the time she lived at Homewood.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Burial will be held privately at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
