Leroy Stevey Obituary

Leroy W. Stevey, 85 of Black Valley Road, Everett, PA; went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at his home with family by his side.  He was born on November 14, 1937 in Midlothian Maryland; a son of the late Jacob Stevey and Beulah (Warnick) Stevey-Penrod. He was first united in marriage to Doris J. (Colledge) Stevey on September 16, 1957. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2011; her passing ended fifty-four years of marriage. He married Geraldine L. (Price) Beegle -Stevey on October 1, 2014; she preceded him in death on November 3, 2022. 

He is survived by children Francis E. Stevey and wife Dianna (James) Stevey of Everett Robin Beegle and husband James; grandchildren Leroy Stevey and his companion Alicia; Katrina (Stevey) Mallow married to Gary; Clayton Stevey married to Jesse; Chad Beegle married to Brandy; Steve Beegle married to Brittany; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings Betty Jane (Penrod) Fleegle, Joe Penrod, Dale Penrod; step-children Julie married to the late David Beegle; Alan L. Beegle married to Penny; Robert L. Beegle married to Michele; Lynn L. Beegle married to Lisa; Linette L. married to Tom O’Neal; Corrie L. Beegle married to Lorie and Jeanette L. Scott married to Charlie; seventeen step-grandchildren and thirty-six step-great-grandchildren and his beloved cat “Baby”.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by step-father Benjamin Penrod; siblings Emma (Stevey) Dicken, Ronnie Stevey, Roger Stevey, Fred Penrod and Benjamin Penrod, Jr.

Leroy worked at the Everett Hardwood as a log buyer for many years.  He would weld and fix farm equipment for his neighbors and friends as well as work on other’s cars. He worked in his wood working shop alongside Doris repairing old furniture making it like new again.  He also enjoyed helping his grandson build stands, toy guns and toy dogs among other things.  He rebuilt engines and restored old cars and worked many long hours sanding and painting his 31 Model A Ford, Jeep Truck and Jeep wagons; sanding them and painting them; Doris always being by his side. He had many neighbors and friends who lent him a helping hand over the years.

With Geraldine he learned to do quilting and made beautiful quilts; they enjoyed long car rides together.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in The Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Ron Hott officiating.

Burial will be held privately.
