Leona P. (Price) Horton

Leona (Price) Horton, 85, of North Spring Street, Everett PA passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.  She was born on May 27, 1935 in Menchtown, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late George R. and Fannie (Garlick) Price. On June 30, 1952 she was united in marriage to Jesse H. Horton Jr.  He preceded her in death in December 2000.

She is survived by her son Jesse H. Horton III married to Margaret A. (Mills) Horton; two grandchildren that she was especially proud of Jacob S. Horton and Olivia N. Horton all of Everett; sisters Shirley Whetstone Blankley of Everett, PA and Clara Adams of Chardon, OH; and her constant companion, her dog “Sophie”.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Ruth Walters, Violet Berrie, Freda Reffner, Doris Morgret and Myron Price.

She was of the Methodist Faith and a member of the Everett United Methodist Church all of her adult life.

She was a former member of the Saxton Chapter of the Eastern Star and currently a member of the Bedford Chapter. 

She was employed in retail sales most of her working life, first at Horton’s Store later working at Everett Area High School in the cafeteria, Health Mart, and retiring from Wal-Mart.

Due to COVID – 19 restrictions private Funeral Services will be held at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett with Pastor David Calovi officiating.

Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
