LaVerne Foor, 103, a lifelong resident of Everett, passed away Monday May 9 at Promedica - Donahoe Manor in Bedford after suffering a stroke. She came to Donahoe in November after living on Summit Street for nearly 40 years where she enjoyed wonderful neighbors and time spent with friends and family.
LaVerne was the daughter of Ulysses G. and Emma E. Johnson, born the last of their nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert (Bert) Foor, her parents, and her eight siblings: Edna Beegle, Ethel Kelley, Mabel Perrin, Helen Zimmerman, Frank Johnson, Earl Johnson, William Johnson, and Kenneth (Pete) Johnson.
She is survived by daughters, Diana (Jack) Pryor and Denise (Dennis) St. Clair, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Joseph D. Foor, and two sisters-in-law, Iva J. Tewell and Norma Foor, and many nieces and nephews.
A 1939 graduate of Everett High School, she worked for the Lion Manufacturing Clothing Factory for 33 years. She was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren her entire life and a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter Order of the Eastern Star for 49 years.
LaVerne was a wonderful mother and role model for all who knew her. She enjoyed helping serve church meals, going to auctions with Bert, walks with friends, and gardening & canning. Her greatest joy was hosting family gatherings.
Visitation will be held at Akers Funeral Home on 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 10:00 am until the hour of service at 11:00 am. with Pastor Mike Benner officiating. Burial will be at the Everett Cemetery.
