Joyce K. (Botteicher) Bennett

Joyce K. (Botteicher) Bennett, 81, of Hollidaysburg went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 5, 2021 at UPMC Altoona.  She was born January 28, 1940 in South Fork, PA, a daughter of the late John and Mary (McCarthy) Botteicher.  On April 14, 1958 she married the love of her life, Vernon R. Bennett, who preceded her in death on August 11, 2001.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother William Botteicher.  

She is survived by son John J. Bennett and wife Kimberly of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Vernon R Bennett, Jr.(Robbie) of Hollidaysburg, PA, sister Cindy (Botteicher) Nimitz married to Tom of Johnstown, Grandchildren Joshua Bennett married to Ashley (Hall) of Bedford, Elisabeth (Bennett) Smith married to Casey of Nashville, TN, and great-grandchildren Elijah Bennett, Aiden Bennett, Camden Bennett, and Gunnar Smith, and special nephew Joey Nimitz married to Meredith (Conrad) and their son Mac.

Joyce grew up in South Fork, PA and later moved with Vern to Bedford PA. She was a waitress at Ed’s Steak house in Bedford for many years until retiring.  She was very active at Acts Community Church, Bedford, attending every Sunday and Wednesday Night, and helping to serve funeral meals and greet and encourage all who attended.  She loved to go to yard sales and find clothing bargains, and dressing up for church in different outfits practically each week.  She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed going to their Summer Training Camp in Latrobe each year with Robbie.  She was young at heart and lovingly known as “Crazy Gram”.  She loved all her family deeply and will be deeply missed.

Friends and Family may call on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4-8 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA.
 
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Acts Community Church, 169 Bedford Plaza Road, Bedford, PA. with Pastor Gary Tustin Officiating.  

Burial will be held privately at Fishertown Cemetery.
