Jerry Smith Obituary

Jerry L. Smith, 60, of Breezewood, PA; passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.  He was born on May 14, 1962 in Bedford County; a son of Dorothy Kay Smith and the late Richard D. Smith.  On July 31, 1982 he married the love of his life, Carol Sue (Deremer) Smith. Surviving are his wife of forty years and children, Jessica Graham and Joseph Smith married to Julia; grandson Jonah; mother Dorothy Kay Smith; siblings Daniel Smith married to Sarah; Donna Zubak married to George; Criss Lodge married to Jeff; mother-in-law Cheryl Bowen; brothers and sisters in-law Barbara Matney married to Randy; Deborah Clark married to Dennis, Tracy Deremer and Chad Deremer married to Bridget and many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Along with his father, Richard D. Smith, Jerry was preceded in death by father-in-law James Deremer and wife Karen and step-father-in-law Al Bowman.

Jerry was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and a graduate of Everett Area High School.  He was employed at Greg Shaffer Farms for many years.  He then worked at D&D Welding and Repair then opened his own business, Smith Repair and finally East Providence Municipal Authority as a plant operator until his retirement.

Jerry loved his collection of Oliver Tractors and farming.  Jerry was great at fixing everything and enjoyed working in his garage.  He loved country music, John Wayne movies and spending time with family and friends.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in The Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., Everett, PA with Pastor Kathy Popp officiating.

Burial will be held at Rays Cove Christian Cemetery.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jerry to Akers Funeral Home to help assist the family with final expenses.
