Janis M. Young

Janis M. Young, 73, of Jay Road, Clearville, PA; passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at home.  She was born on January 09, 1950 in Frederick, Maryland; a daughter of the late Frank Russell and Marie (Dixon) Young. 

She is survived by a brother Eugene Young of Maryland.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Frank “Sonny” Young.

She worked as a cashier for many years.  

Jan had a love for animals, but her true passion in life was horses.  She was involved in every aspect breeding, raising, selling and even racing them as a Sulky Driver.  She was active in the Morgan Horse Associations and Clubs, having served as past president of the Potomac Morgan Horse Club.

Jan liked to bake cakes, she would say pie crust was just not fun to make.

She enjoyed caring for her dogs, feeding the birds with special attention towards the hummingbirds.  She had an appreciation and enjoyed reading history.

At Janis’s request there will be no services.  She will be privately interred at Mt. Oliver Cemetery.
