George Hess Obituary

George Allen Hess, 99, of West 8th Street, Everett, PA; passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Cambria Care, Ebensburg, PA.  He was born on February 7, 1920 in Entriken, PA; a son of the late George Walter and Lena (Criswell) Hess.  On January 23, 1942 in Cumberland, Maryland; he was united in marriage to Betty Jane (Brallier) Hess.  She preceded him in death on January 8, 2018.

He is survived by children: Dennis Lynn Hess married to Mona (Browell), Breezewood, PA and Linda Allene married to Fred Karns, Everett, PA; five grandchildren Kelly (Karns) married to Jeff Clark, Wayde Allen Hess married to Beth (Clark), Travis Karns married to Heather (Hardman), Garrick Karns married to Debra (Milano) and Sallie Janell (Hess) Henderson; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son Gary Allen Hess, granddaughter Monika Linn Hess and siblings Margaret Ritchey, Walter Hess, Ross Hess, Albert Hess, Homer Hess, Lester Hess and infant brother Ronald Hess.

Mr. Hess was a member of the First Christian Church, Everett.

He was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1940, after graduation he went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II, having served in the 272nd Infantry as a Technical Sergeant.  George owned and operated Hess’s Body Shop on Water Street, in Everett for many years.

He was a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No. 524, having served as past master in 1980 and the Everett American Legion Post No. 08.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating.

Family and Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery, Tatesville with full military honors by the Everett Area Honor Guard.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Hess to the First Christian Church, 57 Providence Street, Everett, PA 15537.
