Gary P. May, 72, of Big Creek Road, Clearville, PA; passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, PA. He was born on January 6, 1949 in Clearville, PA; a son of the late Richard and Evelyn (Clark) May. On October 4, 1970 at the Rock Hill Church, he was united in marriage to Beverly A. (Clark) May.
Along with his loving wife, he is survived by three children Terri L. Lundberg married to Robert, Purcellville, VA; Bradley R. May married to Cynthia, Bedford, PA and Krista A. Bowers married to Roger, Greencastle, PA; nine grandchildren Maura Timoney married to CJ, Mikala May, Grant Lundberg, Gabrielle May, Clayton Lundberg, Jenna Bowers, Raegan May, Morgan Lundberg and Gavin Bowers; and two great granddaughters Piper and Hazel Timoney.
Gary was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren. He was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1967. After high school he went on to serve his country during the Vietnam War, having served in the Alpha A Company A/1-7th Calvary as an RTO with the handle of "Radar 6 India", serving from 1969-1971.
He was employed by New Enterprise Stone and Lime for forty years as a Foreman until his retirement in 2008. He took great pride in the fact that he built his home.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Nascar and Penn State Football fan. Gary enjoyed being with his grandchildren and traveling with his wife.
Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 4-8 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Hoffman officiating.
Burial will be held at Union Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
