Fred W. Thompson, Jr., 81, of Karns Lane, James Creek, PA; passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021. He was born on February 12, 1940 in Huntingdon, PA; a son of the late Fred W. Thompson, Sr. and Clara Grace (Johns) Thompson.
He is survived by children Sherry Morningstar married to Tim, New Enterprise; Kessler W. Thompson, James Creek; Janice Raab married to Gregory, Roaring Spring; Patti Mattern and significant other Jim Hodge; grandchildren Jennifer, Kirk, Trisha, Mark, Nicole, Jason, Adam, Derrick, Bryan, Jonathan and Eric; great grandchildren Morgan, Elliott, Addison, Evelyn, Kathrine, Gwen, Jasmine, Anya, Madison, Alexis, Dekin, Cadence, Caylee, Izaac, Allyson, Allie, Peyton, Skyler; and a sister Clara Grace Thompson, Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by brothers Walter “Harold” Thompson and Arthur Thompson; great granddaughter Avery.
Fred served in the United States Army National Guard.
He owned and operated Thompsons Garage in James Creek for many years.
Fred was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church, Clear Spring, Maryland. He was member of several local Fire Companies, Saxton, Marklesburg and Robertsdale as well as the Woodcock Valley Lions Club. Everyone that knew Fred knew his love for racing; he was a three time points champion for the Penn-Mar Vintage Car Circuit. He was an active member of the Penn-Mar Vintage Race Car Club.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
Family and Friends may call at the Woodcock Valley Bible Church, 16412 Raystown Road, James Creek, PA 16657 on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 12 Noon until the hour of funeral service at 2:00 P.M.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Woodcock Valley Bible Church with Pastor Barry Yingling and Pastor Dennis Whitmore officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Russellville Methodist Cemetery.
