Clara Ritchey Obituary

Clara Ann (Leedom) Ritchey, 80, of Plank Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at home.  She was born on September 18, 1940 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late John Leedom.  On July 24, 1993 she was united in marriage to Rev. Harry Lee Ritchey.  

Along with her husband she is survived by step-children Dennis Ritchey married to Joanna, Scott Ritchey married to Ruth and David Ritchey; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by step-daughter Carole Jean Miller; two sisters Loraine and Dorothy and a brother John.

She was a former member of the Woodbury Brethren in Christ Church.

Clara served as a missionary in the Bahamas for twenty-four years, and in Jamaica for three years, where she organized and started a school.  She conducted numerous vacation Bible Schools for various churches, taught children’s Sunday School classes and served as the pianist for all the churches where her husband ministered.  She also taught children through the Release Time Program in the Saxton and Everett areas.

She was a kind person and had a way of connecting with children, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches and catching up with friends and family on the phone.

Friends and Family will be received on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Mt. Chapel Brethren in Christ Church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Chapel Church with Pastor William Swope and Pastor Bryon Myers officiating.

We ask that those in attendance would follow CDC guidelines and recommendations with wearing a mask and social distancing.

Burial at Mt. Chapel Cemetery, Breezewood.
