Apolonia Johnson Obituary

Apolonia Johnson, 72, of Wells Tannery, Pennsylvania; passed away on May 30, 2023 at UPMC Altoona Hospital with her family surrounding her.  She was born on November 25, 1950 in Buchenbach, Germany; a daughter of the late Georg and Gertrude (Lessenich) Enzingmuller.

She is survived by her children Kurt W. Laemmermann, married to Nancy of Wells Tannery, PA and Sabine C. Debski, married to Matthew of Everett, PA; siblings Anita, Andreas, Herman and Georg; three grandchildren Caleb M. Debski, Chauna R. Laemmermann and Katarina D. Debski and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry Johnson and sisters Renate and Monika.

She was affiliated with the Center Church of Waterfall, PA and was baptized in the Lutheran faith.

Apolonia was born in Buchenbach, Germany, a small village near Nurnberg where she loved the Bavarian lifestyle. Her Mother was a Nurse in World War II where she met her Father in a hospital.  Her Father was a Limo driver before he retired while her Mother was a housewife who passed down her love of gardening. Loni followed in her mother's footsteps and graduated from Nursing School. She worked in a hospital until she met Larry.

Loni moved to America in 1981 at the age of  30 where she couldn't write or speak perfect English. Her journey is that of a novel. She married Larry on August 14, 1981. She was a caregiver who loved helping people. She worked in several Nursing Homes, McConnellsburg Hospital, and she finally retired as a Home Nurses Aide. She received many requests from families asking her to help take care of their elderly loved ones.

She enjoyed crocheting blankets, gardening, cooking food for her family, bird watching, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her polka and to dance to any music. She played the harmonica. She was the best Omi (Grammy) and mother anyone could ask for. She made sure to be at every event she could for her children. She loved birds, especially cardinals and hummingbirds. She made the best schnitzel,  potato salad, and pies. Loni was always asked to make these things which she did happily. It always made her feel good to help others.  She loved all people she met and would give hugs to anyone who needed one.
