A. Catherine Smith

A.Catherine Smith, 85, of Clearville, PA; passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.  She was born on March 16, 1936 in Clearville, PA; a daughter of the late Albert and Georgia (Gordon) Medlin.  On April 27, 1957 she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” G. Smith.  He preceded her in death on July 5, 2020.

She is survived by a son Lloyd K. Smith married to Terry (Foor), Clearville, PA; grandchildren Elizabeth Marie Yokum, Heather Dawn Johnson, Matthew Scott Smith and Sarah Ashley Hawkins; nine great grandchildren twins Samantha and Ashley Yokum, Tanner Yokum, Josilyn Johnson, Jenalyn Johnson, Jaxson Smith, Nash “Smash” Smith and twins Rylee and Layla Smith; siblings Florence (Medlin) Brown, E. Geraldine Walton, Anna Swartzwelder married to William and Louise Mellott and her beloved dog “Dixie”.

She was preceded in death by daughters Janet L. Hawkins and infant daughter Gail I. Smith; and a brother Robert Medlin.

Catherine was a member of Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was a graduate of Everett High School.  Catherine was a farmer’s wife.  She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning.  Her family was everything to her, especially the little ones.

Friends and Family may call on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Hott officiating.

Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Catherine to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
