Rose L. (Snyder) Border

Rose L. Border, 101, of Everett, PA.

Rose Lillian Snyder Border was born to Charles Chester Snyder and Virginia “Jen” Alice (Davis) Snyder on March 15, 1916.

She entered Heaven's gates on May 11, 2017.

A loving mother and homemaker, Rose was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends.  Over the years she collected a large library of recipes from family, friends and her community.  Rose's hobbies included embroidering, quilting and home canning.  She loved holidays and large family gatherings e.g., the annual Snyder family reunion.

Rose had an unwavering faith in God.  She was the oldest member of the Community Grace Brethren Church of Everett.

Rose was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, John T. Border.  She was also predeceased by her two sons, Robert Shannon Border and Donald Lee Border, her granddaughter Kathy Border Thompson, her four sisters, Gladys Axon, Mae Ritchey, Mary Dean and Nola McFarland as well as her six brothers, Charles (Pud) Snyder, John Snyder, Glenn Snyder, Gerald Snyder, Shannon Snyder and Joseph Snyder.  Rose is survived by her four children, John C. Border, Carole J. Border, Richard A. Border, all of Everett and Terry L. Border of Falls Church, Virginia.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kristi Curtis, Karla Blake, Kevin Border, Harold Border, Heidi Bailey, Keith Border, Jeffery Border, Dana Border and Chuck Myers.  Rose was blessed with numerous great grandchildren.

Rose was lovingly cared for at home by her son John and daughter Carole until the last few weeks of life.  The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Rose at Pennknoll and Home Nursing Agency Hospice Care their greatest gratitude.

The family will receive friends on Sunday May 21, 2017 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the same location with Pastor Jeff Peeler and Pastor Lee Seese Officiating.  A viewing will preceed the funeral service from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at the Bethel Church Cemetery, in Everett, PA.  A meal will be served at the Community Grace Brethren Church, 1216 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537, immediately following internment.
