Melvin Hall Obituary

Melvin L. Hall, 86, of Washington Street, Dudley, Pennsylvania; passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Donahoe Manor.  He was born on May 19, 1933 in Everett, PA; a son of the late Fred O. and Mary (Fessler) Hall.  On September 7, 1957 in Cumberland, MD; he was united in marriage to Shirley J. (Kagarise) Hall.

Along with his wife he is survived by children Leroy Hall married to Stacey, Six Mile Run, PA; Gary Hall married to Bethann, Martinsburg, Martinsburg, PA; Emerson Hall, Dudley, PA; Shirley Lohr married to Joe, New Paris, PA and Wayne Hall married to Jennifer, Saxton, PA; grandchildren Leroy Hall Jr., Chanda Eckman, Katrina Shimp, Aaron Hall, Justin Smith, Lexie Olschewski, Fred Hall Jr., Ashley Hall, Alisha Hall, Shayla Hall, Gary Hall II, Patty Lingenfelter, Blair Saylor, Heather Saylor, Natasha Hall, Timberly Lohr and Jenna Hall; numerous great-grandchildren and siblings Alton Hall, Sam Hall, Nancy Walton, Florence Hess, Joe Hall and Fern Otto.

He was preceded in death by children Ethel Risbon, Fred O. Hall and Nancy Smith; siblings Chet Hall, Ken Hall, Ruth Douglas and Doris Eshelman.

Melvin served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 serving during the Korean War.  He worked as a forklift operator in the Gateway Foods Warehouse until his retirement.

Mr. Hall was a member of the Raystown Brethren Church as well as the Saxton Sportsmen Club, Bedford Moose Lodge, Saxton Volunteer Fire Company, Saxton V.F.W Post No. 4129, Pleasantville V.F.W. Post No. 9219.

He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678 with Pastor Alfred Chamberlain officiating.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 6-8 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.  Saxton Volunteer Fire Company will hold a memorial service at 7:00 P.M.

Burial will be held at Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
