James A. Morgan, 94, of West Street, Everett, Pennsylvania; passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 26, 1925 in Martinsburg, PA; a son of the late Andrew D. and Louella (Steel) Morgan. On February 18, 1947 in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania; he married Gladys (Forshey) Morgan. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2013.
He is survived by two sons Daryl E. Morgan, Frederick, MD and
Dennis J. Morgan married to Brenda (Browell), Youngsville, NC; four grandchildren:
Dustin Morgan, Heather Morgan Mote, Keef Morgan and Jesse Morgan; five great grandchildren: Wyatt and Kayla Mote, Ashlyn, Lauren and Austin Morgan; sister Doris Ritchey, Roaring Spring, PA.
He was preceded in death by sisters Katherine Shoop and Ethel Miller.
Mr. Morgan was a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren.
He was a graduate of Woodbury High School Class of 1943 and went on to serve our country in the United States Merchant Marines serving during World War II. He was farm raised, truck driver, businessman, foster father and woodworker. Jim later worked for Kennametal as a machinist before owning and operating Morgan’s Tire Service in Everett until his retirement.
Jim enjoyed music and playing his banjo.
Family and Friends may call at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 2-5 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Benner officiating.
Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
