George F. Ritchey

George F. Ritchey, Sr., 88, of West Cypher Road, Everett, PA; passed away on August 5, 2019.  He was born on August 31, 1930 in White Oak, PA; a son of the late Levi J. and Ida Mae (Kleitner) Ritchey.  He was first married to Delores June (Messinger), she preceded him in death on December 31, 2004.  On April 15, 2006 at the Bethel Church of the Brethren he was united in marriage to Laura G. (Foor) Valentine-Ritchey. 

Along with his wife Laura he is survived by children Judi married to Kelly Beck, Belleview, FL and George Ritchey, Jr. married to Beverly, Roaring Spring, PA; step children Sharon married to Rich Bigler, Ken Valentine married to Anita, Denny Valentine married to Debbie, Mike Valentine and Michelle married to Scott Zegles; five grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Ritchey.

He was a graduate of McKeesport Vocational School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 as Corporal.

George worked as an accounts receivable handler for Firth-Sterling and later for Teledyne Company until his retirement.

First and foremost in George’s life was the love of his family. They were always his priority. His love of travel allowed him to see so many accomplishments of his family. He also enjoyed working outdoors as seen at his home. 

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Benner officiating.

Family and Friends will be received at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service.

Burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery.
