Ethel M. Steach, 95, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Pennknoll Village. She was born on April 3, 1924 in Bedford, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Sewell and Amy (Price) Harbaugh. On March 3, 1943 in Everett, Pennsylvania, she was united in marriage to the late Samuel Charles Steach; he preceded her in death on September 24, 1993.
She is survived by children Beverly R. Buchanan, Seaford DE; Kenneth S. Steach married to Marian, Crystal Spring, PA and Lanette M. Deneen married to Stephen, Crystal Spring, PA; brother Robert V. Harbaugh married to Janice, LaVale, MD and a sister-in-law Betty L. Ritchey, Everett, PA; ten grandchildren D. Wayne Buchanan, James Buchanan, Kevin Buchanan, Ginger McDorman, Jeremy Steach, Brandon Steach, Megan Lear, Molly Deneen, Melanie Deneen and Maggie Bradley; nine great-grandchildren Ashley Buchanan, Kimberlyn Hurlock, Lyndsay Buchanan, Caleb Steach, Colin Steach, Julianna Steach, Bryce Steach, Easton Lear, Kinsley Bradley and Baby Husick expected arrival in April 2020. two great-great-grandchildren Andrea Buchanan and Colten Hurlock.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by sister Alene Gordon and brothers Ray and Lewis Harbaugh and infant brother Oscar Harbaugh; son-in-law David Buchanan.
Ethel was a Graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1942 and was affiliated with the Mt. Chapel Church in Breezewood, PA. She worked at Lion Manufacturing in Everett, PA until her retirement. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Ethel loved taking care of her family and was very involved in raising her grandchildren; she instilled her hard-working ethic in all of them. She enjoyed cooking, doing puzzles and word puzzles and reading.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday October 15, 2019 from 4-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537, with Pastor Bruce Maxwell officiating.
Burial will be held at Akersville Cemetery.
