Betty Ruth (Workman) Kifer

May 26, 1932 ~ September 14, 2019 (age 87)

Betty Ruth Kifer, 87, of Raystown Road, Saxton, PA; passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at home with family by her side. She was born on May 26, 1932 in Saxton, PA; a daughter of the late Robert H. and Edith (Smith) Workman. On March 28, 1953 in Stonerstown Church of the Brethren, she was united in marriage to John C. Kifer. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2004.

She is survived by children Janice K. married to Joel Stewart, Elizabethtown, PA; John R. Kifer married to Kirsten, North Fork, CA and Elaine R. married to Sherwood Taylor, Fallsington, PA; three grandchildren Sherwood Taylor III, Kelly Howley and Matthew John Taylor; four great grandchildren Katherine Taylor, Ellyanna Howley, Braydon Howley and Davey Taylor; siblings David Frank Workman, Alice Ann Eichelberger, Catherine Jean Mort and Barbara Hammond.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Betty was a member and a pillar of the Raven Run Church of the Brethren, where she was longtime Sunday school teacher and was active in the widows group.

She was an avid gardener, reader and soap maker. Betty was the keeper of family stories and was a proud farmer’s daughter.

Betty was a member of the Red Hat Society; she always made time for others, often sending cards and notes of kindness.

Friends may call at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren, 616 Raven Run Road, Saxton, PA 16678 with Pastor Allen Baker Jr. officiating.

Burial will be held in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Kifer to the Raven Run Church of the Brethren Scholarship Fund.
