Barbara K. Akers

Barbara K. Akers, age 80, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at her home in Saratoga Springs, NY.  She was born on July 23, 1939 in Everett, PA; the first child of the late Allen and Grace (Cunard) Fluke.

Barb Graduated from Everett Southern Joint High School Class of 1957.  She worked as a waitress at Gateway Restaurant in Breezewood, where she met her husband, Stanley.  They celebrated sixty years of marriage on September 23, 2019.  Barb was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a first-rate cook, a top-notch bargain shopper, good listener and a good talker. Barb offered invaluable support and advice over the years to her family and friends.  She was a woman with a kind heart and very strong opinions.

Barb is survived by her husband Stanley Akers; daughter Brenda Wilson married to Mark and sons Richard and Christopher Akers, all of New York; grandchildren Jessica Sinnott married to Steven, VA and Amanda Dia married to Oumar, NY; great-grandchildren Lauren and Lucas Sinnott, VA; siblings Judy Foor, Everett, PA; Pat McGuirk, Finleyville, PA; Sue Feight, Arlington, VA; Wayne Fluke married to Linda, Everett, PA; Bill Fluke, Everett, PA; Kim Treece, Everett, PA and Jill Blizzard married to John of Cape Canaveral, FL.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by an infant sister, Kitty Fluke.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 with Pastor Dan Pierce officiating.

Friends and Family will be received on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Akers Funeral Home, Inc. from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
