Arden F. Karns

October 6, 1930 ~ November 26, 2018 (age 88)

Arden Franklin Karns, 88, of Old Route 26, Everett, PA; went to sleep awaiting the coming of Jesus in the second resurrection at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, PA on November 26, 2018.  He was born on October 6, 1930 in Cumberland, Maryland; a son of the late Erastus and Belle (Hall) Karns. He married Belva L. (Barnes) on May 7, 1954 in Cumberland, MD, a union of sixty-four years.

Along with his wife he is survived by sons, Linford A. Karns, married to Karen (O’Brien), Everett, PA and Mark F. Karns married to Melanie (Lane), Everett, PA; step-grandson Patrick Williams, wife Lindsay and sons, Royce and Sterling, Fort Worth, TX; and brother-in-law Bob Bilinksy, Scranton, PA.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family; he was preceded in death by siblings Paul Karns, Burl Karns, John “Babe” Karns, Thomas “Nick” Karns, Betty Fabian, Ardene Bilinsky, his twin sister; and two infant siblings Ben Karns and Sarah Karns.

Arden was employed as an auto body repairman at Hershberger Garage, Everett Motor Co., Ben Foy Motors, Barkman’s Chevrolet Garage, Wright’s Ford Garage, and lastly Thomas Chevrolet Inc. where he retired.  Arden could work his auto body hammer like magic; like a conductor orchestrating a symphony.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as an ammo truck driver to the front lines.

Arden loved rabbit hunting and he was a member of the Fort Bedford Car Club and Hobby Auto Racing Association, driving car number 16 at the South Penn Speedway and other local tracks.  He was of the Protestant faith.

Friends and Family may call at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at the Akers Funeral Home, Everett, PA with Pastor Robert Snyder officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.

Burial will be held privately at the Rockhill Cemetery, Clearville, PA.

If friends and family desire, memorial donations may be made in the memory of Arden "Biscuit" Karns to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home Benevolent Fund.
