Ann L. Bittner, 65, of Bedford, PA; passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, PA. She was born on May 26, 1954 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania; a daughter of Alice (Critchfield) Bittner of Everett and the late L. Frank Bittner.
Along with her mother she is survived by children David “DJ” Caro married to Brandi (Guilfoy), Mercersburg, PA and Kaitlyn Whitfield and fiancé Timothy McCarthy, Pittsburgh, PA; siblings James Bittner, Everett, PA; John Bittner married to Elizabeth (Metzger) Bittner, Bedford, PA and Robert Bittner married to Claudia DeLeon, Philadelphia, PA; special aunt Ruth Baer and special friend Patricia Nave.
Along with her father she was preceded in death by a brother David R. Bittner.
Ann was a graduate of Everett Area High School Class of 1972 and a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science in education.
Ms. Bittner was an educator at the Everett Area School District where she taught art for thirty-four years until her retirement in 2009. She mentored many of her students and watched them grow into various career-oriented professionals.
She was a member of Bedford Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Miniature Horse Association and showed multiple national champion miniature horses. She had a love for aquatic life and aquariums. Ann enjoyed raising dogs, throwing pottery and had a passion for flower gardening, especially her roses.
Friends and family will be received at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 4-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Short officiating.
Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery.
