Thomas Franklin “Blair Oberman, 85, of Oberman Street, Saxton, Pennsylvania; passed away on Monday, May 08, 2017 at his residence. He was born on July 9, 1931 in Saxton, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Chester Doyle and Thelma (Coy) Oberman. On September 21, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Marklesburg he was united in marriage to Donna (Starr) Oberman.
Along with his wife of sixty years he survived by the following children Stephen Oberman married to Vicki, Saxton, PA; Gary Oberman married to Tina, Saxton, PA; Kathy married to John Dively, New Enterprise, PA; Cindy Hinkle, Saxton, PA and Donna Marie Oberman, Saxton, PA; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and a sister Catherine “Kate” Oberman.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Doyle Oberman, Lulu Mae Leabhart and Donald Oberman.
Blair served in the United States Army serving in the Panama Canal Zone from 1949-1955. He was employed at Seton Manufacturing for twenty-two years as a leather cutter.
He was a member of the Saxton First Church of God.
Mr. Oberman was a member of the Saxton V.F.W. Post Number 4129 and the Broad Top American Legion Post No. 126. He was active in the Broad Top Area Honor Guard for several years. Blair served on the Board at Fockler Cemetery, cared for the Vet’s Field for many years.
Blair enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching John Wayne Westerns.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Oberman officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard at the chapel.
Friends and Family are invited to the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Oberman to the Saxton First Church of God, 1018 6th St, Saxton, PA 16678.
Burial will be held privately at Fockler Cemetery.
