Charles "Butch" A. Myers, Sr.

September 19, 1942 ~ October 23, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Charles A. “Butch” Myers, Sr., 75, of Water Street, Everett, Pennsylvania; passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at home.  He was born on September 19, 1942 in Everett, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Henry and Helen Claire (Stayer) Myers.  On March 6, 1996 in Winchester, Virginia; he was united in marriage to Delores I. (Marshall) Myers. Along with his wife, he is survived by a son Chuck Myers, Jr. and fiancé Lonnie Cogan Ross, Everett, PA and stepdaughter Leesa Keys-Waite married to Jason, Everett, PA; sister Susan Foor married to Denny, Everett, PA; niece Michelle Weiler married to Roger; two great-nephews Ben and Aaron Weiler; a cousin that he considered a brother Alan England married to Gail and his Girls, the pugs.

Charlie was a graduate of Windber High School Class of 1960 and attended Pennsylvania State University.  He served in the United States Army from 1968-1969 as a SGT during the Korean War, having served on the DMZ.  He served in the 2nd Battalion 8th Artillery as N.C.O.I.C. During his military tenure he earned a Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifle Auto/M-14, Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service and Commemorative Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Presidential Unit Citation and Cold War Victory Commemorative Medal.   

Butch was a member of the Everett American Legion Post #8, Everett V.F.W. Post #2088, Society of Explosive Engineers and past president of the Everett Rotary Club.  He served on the Everett Little League Board for twenty years, also having coached for many years.  Mr. Myers also served on the Everett School District Board for twenty years, serving as Vice President for six terms.   He was instrumental in the building of the County Vocational School, having served on the Technical Board for three terms as Vice President.  Charlie played in the Bedford County Baseball League in Chaneysville as a pitcher and was semi-pro.

He was of the Protestant Faith.  Mr. Myers was employed at P.B.S. Coals Inc., Friedens, PA as a Dynamite Engineer and Job Foreman for many years.

Charlie will fondly be remembered for his passing out of Fire Balls and never meeting a stranger.

Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Robertson officiating.

Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
